All hail Korean BBQ! Okay, maybe that was a bit much. But, really. Have you not fallen in love with it already? Shame if you haven’t. You’re missing out on some really good (and sometimes necessary) eats.
I say necessary because I’ve yet to go a week without stopping by the lovely Korean BBQ cart on K St. and 15th. The cart is operated by a husband and wife duo with the occasional and helpful visit from one of their kids. They serve up delicious bulgogi, spicy chicken, and bibimbap. If you’re a D.C.-ite/Washingtonian and you work near K St. and 15th, you should stop by their cart. You won’t be disappointed.
Back to necessity. I woke up this morning and began my work day like any other ordinary day. And like any other day, my friend Crystal and I exchange hellos on gchat. Today, I mentioned how I wish I could visit home and head over to an AYCE Korean BBQ spot with everyone. She then said that I could make bulgogi at home. I know for certain I furrowed my brow and dropped my jaw as I typed back, “wha?!?!?!”
Within seconds (thanks to gchat), a link appeared in my chat window and voila! Korean food danced in my mind all afternoon long. A quick trip to the grocery store to pick up some beef, onions, and green onions and it’s off to the races!
If you’re wanting an authentic recipe for bulgogi, here you go. This lovely maven has shared her secrets along with other recipes I’m sure are delicious. I’m going to scan them and pick a few out. With that, I challenge you. Yeah, you, the foodie within, to attempt this scrumptious dish. I’ve shared the link below. After you’re done, send me your comments. Share your pictures. Tell me what you thought of it.
‘Til the next time,
E
